EHC Tech Talk 11/20

We are having former EHC president Jordan Sosnowski here for a tech talk!

Details: EHC Tech Talk - Wednesday November 20 - 5:00-6:00pm - CSSE Seminar Room (Shelby 3129)

  • Bio: Jordan Sosnowski is a cybersecurity professional at working for Pacific Northwest National Laboratory (PNNL). With an educational background from Auburn University, Jordan earned a Bachelor's degree in Software Engineering in 2019 and completed a Master's degree in Cybersecurity Engineering in 2021. During his time at Auburn he served as President of EHC in 2019 and 2020. At PNNL, Jordan works in the Cybersecurity Operations Center performing Incident Response with a focus on Malware Analysis. Jordan has a passion for developing tools and dashboards to support fellow analysts in their investigations.
  • Abstract: In this presentation, we will delve into the inner workings of a novel phishing attempt seen at PNNL. I’ll provide a high-level overview of the malicious code seen, illustrating how each layer can be deobfuscated and how IOCs can be obtained. If there is time we will go through alternative paths on how the sample can be deobfuscated to show that there are often multiple ways to perform analysis.
